Too many people care what other people think these days. And because of it, people become frozen when making decisions – “should I post this?” “should I say that?” “is my art good enough to be seen?” etc. and so they tend to never show themselves at all. What if you approached this in a different way? What if, instead of caring what people thought, you realize how in the grand scheme of things, whatever you do will mean nothing?
I get it, that’s a stretch. And I definitely don’t want you thinking that what you’re doing means NOTHING, but it using that train of thought could make a difference in how you put yourself out in the world. This is how Edgar views the world – somewhat. He believes that sending an email, even to a big time movie director (which he did), means nothing and in that way, it makes it a lot easier for him to take chances.
I consider myself, at times, a massive overthinker, so hearing Edgar’s view of life really opened my eyes to the possibilities that come from not caring! Say ‘Hi!’ to that person you pass on the sidewalk, start that new project that’s been on your mind, shoot, take a break! Caring a little bit is healthy – it keeps you on your toes ready to improve and hear people’s feedback, but it comes at a cost when it holds you back from moving forward! And you know I’m all about leveling up! Thanks to Edgar for opening up and sharing his awkward years, failures, successes, and so much more!
