I’ve been taking a break from binge-watching Million Dollar Listing – or any show, for that matter. Lately, I’ve been heads-down focused on work, and honestly? It feels really good.
I’ve never been a big fan of reality TV. They’re usually filled with drama – drama that’s been scripted and edited to a T!!! And I’m, for the most part, a drama-free person. It’s just me, my pups, and my parents. 😂
But when I do watch a reality show, I want it to have a message. I want it to be motivating. And that’s what I found in Million Dollar Listing. (Are we getting married?! Maybe!)
The three brokers starring in the show? They are what I would call absolutely relentless. And they surround themselves with other relentless people – buyers, sellers, developers, and other agents.
Every episode, someone is breaking a record in price.

(I’ll just skip over the fact that NYC is one of the most expensive places to live because of these guys 😂)
You expect that when one of the brokers walks into a meeting with a seller, the seller is going to throw out some big, extravagant number for what they think their place is worth.
And you know the agent is going to respond like, “That’s way too expensive. The comps in this area are so much lower! That would be setting a record!”

And the seller? Always: “This is what I think it’s worth.”
Seriously. Every episode.
By the way – if you don’t know, “comps” are comparisons in the area. So if someone wants to sell their place for $2,000 per square foot and the surrounding properties are priced at $1,500 per square foot… that’s a comp. (I learned a lot about real estate watching this show, tbh.)
And yes – can you believe that some places go for $2K, $4K, even more per square foot?! Really think about that!
But what really gets me is when a broker takes on a listing with a price that’s never been done before in that area. Their whole job becomes convincing people that this new price tag is what the space is worth.
I mean, these people are literally making up numbers – based on research, sure – but then adding on more and straight-up selling people on it.
And it works.
Because here’s the truth:
A thing is worth what someone’s willing to pay for it.
But when you dig a little deeper, it’s more than salesmanship. These agents and developers are visionaries. They are creating something that’s never been done before – and they believe in it so much that other people start to believe, too.
And so I ask you:
Is that how you’re creating your life?
Are you dreaming big enough?
So big that you can see something that’s never been done before and actually believe it’s possible?

I follow this creator, @emonthebrain, and the other day she posted a video saying:
“Science shows that if everyone you tell your dreams to can understand them, you’re dreaming too small.”
Whew. That made me pause.
So I asked myself: Are my dreams big enough?
The answer?
Yes.
But the better question is: Do I actually believe in them?
Sometimes we confuse dreams with visions.
Dreams can feel like fairytales:
- “I dream of owning a Lamborghini.”
- “I dream of marrying a beautiful celebrity.”
- “I dream of building the next Amazon.”
But visions are rooted in something deeper. They’re not just wants – they’re callings:
“I envision giving back to my hometown community.”
“I envision writing and starring in my own TV show.”
“I envision being a famous rapper who inspires people.”
Dreams are often based on what we see others doing.
Visions are based on what only we can see for ourselves.

And that’s the thing. The sellers and developers on Million Dollar Listing? They’re not dreaming. They’re visioning. They aren’t saying, “I dream of selling a $20 million dollar property.”
They see someone buying it.
They believe in it – outrageous or not.
And then they become relentless in making it happen.
You have to be just as relentless with your own vision.
Sometimes I even think the sellers purposely aim higher because they know the agent’s going to come back with a lower number. Why ask for $15 million when you could potentially get $18? Instead, start the ask at $20.
It’s like the quote by Norman Vincent Peale:
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
So when it comes to your dreams – dream big.
So big that most people can’t even comprehend it.
So big it sounds unrealistic.
And that’s fine.
Because you’re not living in a fairytale.
You’re living in your vision.
So I’ll ask again:
How big are you dreaming?
