Are you the type of person who worries a lot? Worries about a deadline, about money, about what other people are going to say about what you’re putting on your timelines, etc.? I was that person. And I may slip into worry here and there, but once I figured out what worry actually was, it didn’t scare me as much. Now, worry doesn’t affect me and cause me to lay in bed drowning in my worry thoughts. Instead, when I worry I know that it is time to start taking action on what I can control.
There have been two resources that have helped me tremendously with my worries – Abraham Hicks teachings and The Power of Now. I have been listening to Abraham Hicks for a couple years now and they base their teachings off bringing your frequency to a level of your desires instead of keeping your mood on lower frequencies that vibe with lack, worry, stress, etc. The Power of Now emphasizes the fact that everything that is happening and will ever happen will be in the Now. Whatever you’re worried about in the future will only happen in the Now. It won’t happen NOW, but when the future comes, it will then be Now. So because of this, there is no reason to worry because there is nothing you can do about the future, you can only take control of the Now. Pretty simple conceptually, but unless you really take the ideas and put them into action, you won’t see any results.
Be Solution Focused
For example, rent is due in three weeks and you’re worried you won’t have enough money to cover the rent. So not only are you focused on your lack of the money, but you are also putting your attention on the problem of not having enough and not the solution of actually receiving the money. And as hard as it may be to understand this, you ARE receiving the money that you already have, you are not going and GETTING the money. If this isn’t clear to you, I encourage you to listen to more Abraham Hicks teachings. And furthermore, you shouldn’t just go applying to any job you can, you should line up to what is best for you and what your desires are. What would make you happy? What time of job? What type of work? Even if that means creating a business for yourself and not necessarily going and working for someone else. Dream big! Most importantly, what qualities would make you feel GOOD? After you’ve made a clear list on a sheet of paper (or in your head), focus on the NOW. Don’t focus on the HOW, focus on the WHAT. Instead of “How will I get this money in time for rent?” ask yourself “What needs to be done in order for my to execute my strategies and goals?” and start on those.
Get Momentum (in the right direction)
Ok, now you know what you need to be doing, so GO DO IT! Seriously, get off social media, put down your phone and hide it somewhere (unless you need it to do your thing of course), get out of bed, turn off Netflix, stop picking your fingernails, whatever it is you’re doing STOP IT and start doing what you need to do Now to create momentum. Once you start, it’s hard to stop. You can either gather momentum in the right direction by starting on your tasks or to-do list or momentum by lying in your bed for hours doing nothing, worrying about how you won’t be able to pay rent. Both are momentum, both can get going quickly, but only one will move you in the direction of where you REALLY want to being going – towards paying rent, in this example.
Talk Yourself Into Results
You can do all the correct, perfect, best work in the world and still not get the results you want and that’s for one reason – you didn’t actually believe it would happen. You can’t make a beautiful product and the whole time be thinking “Who would buy this? No one is going to want this. This isn’t going to help anyone Blah blah,” well, you’re right! Have you ever heard the famous quote by Henry Ford “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.”? This is exactly what I mean by your thinking. Those thoughts of doubt and worry are all held in your subconscious so you HAVE to talk and BELIEVE yourself into the right thoughts or the thoughts that will help you achieve your desired results each and every day, each and every moment. I must warn you, because I ran into this too, it may feel uncomfortable. Your brain may have a little fight with you, but you must remember that YOU are in control of your brain, not the other way around. However it is programmed at this moment, YOU did that. You must take responsibility for those previous actions and now make yourself take corrected action.
Worry aint an easy thing to let go of, believe me. Since moving out to Atlanta, GA without a job, some worry thoughts have come and gone and I am continually working on bringing in new helpful thoughts to reach my goals. So I hope these thoughts and strategies I brought to you today can help you in moving towards your goals instead of sabotaging yourself and moving backwards. Let me know in the comments!!
