If you’re reading this on August 4th, I am currently driving and on my way to Midland, TX, my only pit stop on my road trip to Atlanta, GA. It’s the night before, I’m sitting at my favorite spot on a hill right by my apartment in LA and I’m just taking some time to reflect and share my thoughts.
Change is never easy. Right? Going into quarantine wasn’t the easiest – although my fun Tik Tok characters and the Level Up! Podcast came out of it, so it wasn’t terrible. Then more change as the city started opening back up and I went back to work. That wasn’t easy. Even moving to LA…that was a grind. Thinking back on it, I had NO IDEA what I was doing. I just woke up and went to work; maybe went to a comedy show or two, drove around the city, went to a coffee shop. I was just trying a bunch of activities out. Which is great, although I remember being stressed a lot that first year. I was sharing a studio apartment with a girl who I met on a Facebook group (we are still friends to this day – I love her!), I was doing as much free improv as I could, and working at Starbucks and Uber just trying to pay my bills. Even that took a while.
Then I started getting used to the city a bit, found a nice job where I made some great friends, one of them turning into my absolute go-to person. Then I had some more challenges. Not so much challenges with paying bills, although that still wasn’t easy, but challenges with relationships. One incident which pushed me to leave improv and go to music for a year – one of the best years of my life and one I will remember forever. And most of it was filmed so I can always go back and reminisce. If you want to see any, check out my YouTube channel for my beloved #WrapUpWednesdays.
And fast forward to now. I’ve learned so many important lessons about myself and life these past four years. Even within the past couple days, I’m still having tremendous realizations on how to truly live an abundant, faithful, and happy life. I want to share one with you…
Surrender.
I’ve been called a go-getter many times. I do so much! I put in so much work! And I get things done! Great attributes to have, absolutely. But a lot of times, the things you want you can’t go out and GET. Wait for it…they have to come to you. If something doesn’t work out exactly the way I wanted it to, I would try to figure out a way to go GET it and work it out how I wanted it to. But that ain’t how life works.
The Universe knows what you want – plain and simple. You see a car you want, whether you say it out loud or not, you have some type of feeling and energy towards that car. BOOM. Noted by the Universe. You see someone who you think is attractive across the street. BOOM. You want a lover like them. Noted by the Universe. The Universe knows what you want! But you aren’t gonna go straight to the dealership and get that car when you’re still living in a studio apartment! You’re not gonna go get that girl across the street because she’s Gigi Hadid and you’re not Zayn! Because it isn’t straight from desire to receive, the Universe will take you on a ride through challenges and fun times and new people and different experiences to get to where you have desired all along and in all the ways that are so magical, you could have never thought them up yourself.
You’re gonna go on the ride, so you decide – are you gonna have fun on that ride? Will you see everything that doesn’t work out in your favor as a blessing in disguise and roll with it? Or will you see it as something that didn’t go your way and now your life sucks and you are going to do everything in your power to change it? Which, by the way, your human power compared to the Universe’s power…ain’t sh*t.
The Universe is working FOR YOU. BELIEVE THAT. Why? Because there is no other way. So please, take it from someone who’s spent a long time WORKING to attempt to out-work the Universe. Sometimes the “work” is taking a step back. Sometimes the “WORK” is realizing whatever situation you’re in, is in your favor. Sometimes the “WORK” is doing nothing and expressing gratitude for all the amazing things in your life. Sometimes the “WORK” is just knowing you’re always going in the right direction.
So this is my intention for my new journey. I’m going to work less and have faith more. I know I can do anything, but I know I can’t do it by myself. Thanks for reading and being a part of my journey. I appreciate you. We are building a great world together. Keep going ❤
